The epic war-game/euro pitting viking clans against one another in a point-grabbing battle to the death is one of Eric Lang’s best to date, and is the subject of our If You Like treatment this month. In this episode we’ll look at 12 games you might like if you also like Blood Rage, along with 5 new acquisition disorders, 4 new games at the table, and the recent spate of new apps in board games revitalizing old classics.

Acquisition Disorder Corner

Anthony and Chris discuss the games they are most interested in picking up after all the new Gen Con announcements, including Star Trek Ascendancy, Star Wars: Destiny, Captain Sonar, Game of Thrones: Iron Throne, and Medici: The Card Game.

At the Table

Anthony discusses two games he got to the table recently – Arkwright, a massive and very satisfying euro based on the early industrial revolution, and 4 the Birds, a much lighter game about gathering your flock of bird while blocking your opponents.

Chris discusses two recent plays of his own, including the quirky futuristic game Gingkopolis, and a lighter than expected but still satisfying euro from Mac Gerdts, Hamburgum.

Feature: If You Like Blood Rage, Try…

For our feature in this episode, we’re looking at Blood Rage and 12 games you might like if you also like this one. We’re looking at viking games, games that mix war-game and euro mechanics, those with action point allowance systems, and area influence games with three picks for each category.
