Episode 107 – If You Like Codenames, Try…

Codenames is one of the hottest games of the last year. Winner of the Spiel des’Jahres, the Origins Game of the Year, and countless other awards, it’s on a bit of a roll, so we figured we’d dig in and make some recommendations for other games you might like if you happen to love this one.

In addition, we’re talking about some of the games we’ve been playing lately, our big acquisition disorders, and Daniel is back!

Shout it from the Tabletop

This month, we have a lot of news to discuss including the big Games Workshop/FFG divorce (it’s not you…it’s them), the AEG pricing policy, and the Myriad lawsuit (a story we are intimately familiar with).

We’re also discussing all the amazing new content (ahem…Anthony may be writing this) content Anthony is producing of late, including Table for One, weekly newsletters, and new YouTube content. Check it out!

Acquisition Disorders

We have a nice burst of new games to talk about this month including Anthony’s surprising endorsement of Mansions of Madness Second Edition, and not so surprising desire to try out Great Western Trail. Chris is eager to get the new Small World into his hands with River World as well as Epic PvP: Magic, and Daniel is waiting for Tiny Epic Western to reach his doorstep, along with Machi Koro, which he just snagged on deep discount.

At the Table

The guys have a boatload of games to talk about with reviews of The Great Dinosaur Rush, Francis Drake, Mercs Recon: Assassination Protocol, Munchkin Loot Letter, The Usual Suspects, Salem, Pandemic: The Cure, and Worlds in Peril.

Feature: If You Like Codenames, Try…

Finally, we’re looking at Codenames and 9 games you might like if this is a hot game on your shelf. Categories include word games from Anthony, hint driven deduction games from Daniel, and press your luck with hidden information games from Chris. There are some classics, new ones and unexpected hits mixed in here.
