It’s that time of the month again – let’s dig into the Board Game Geek hotness to see what’s currently on the rise, what’s holding strong, and what we can expect next as we get ever closer to convention season. With the monthly BGG hotness review, we’ll tell you which 15 games are currently at the top of the list and why they are there, as well as some thoughts on what you might see on that list next.
First up, though, we dig into our acquisition disorders to share two games we’re excited to see hitting our tables very soon. Anthony discusses one of his favorites shows of the last two years being turned into a board game with The Expanse from Geoff Engelstein and WizKids. Chris shares the newest game he’s keeping an eye on from Albon Viard with Card City XL, currently on Kickstarter.
Then we dig into two games we’ve been playing lately. Anthony shares his recent play through of The Ruhr Valley, the first expansion for Haspelknecht – one we’ve been looking forward to for a long time as the base game needed something additional to build it out. Then Chris dives into Railroad Revolution, the 2016 release from What’s Your Game? And Anthony shares a sob story about his experience with the game.
Finally, we dig into the hottest and most interested games of May 2017 with our BGG Hotness review. Featured heavily this week are the recently announced Spiel des Jahres nominees, as well as the Kennerspiel and Kinderspiel nominees. Find out what made it, and which ones we’re keeping an eye on going into the convention season.
Finally we close out with our question of the week, selected from the daily questions posted in Facebook and Twitter every weekday.
