Anthony, Chris, Dan and Kim get together this week to talk about one of the most talked about games of 2013 and one of the hardest to find – Caverna. As we get this new one to the table, we discuss the merits of it as a euro, and compare it to its spiritual predecessor, Agricola. Also this week, we play through a bunch of games, including bringing a couple of old favorites back to the table.
Back to the Table
Every now and then we want to go back into the vault and play through games we haven’t had a chance to play in a long time. This week that means getting Quarriors and A Game of Thrones: The Card Game back to the table for the first time in a long while – well worth the wait.
At the Table
At the table this week, we play through two hot new games along with two old classics, including the newest Martin Wallace game, A Study in Emerald and Stonemaier Games’ most recently released Kickstarter game – Euphoria. We also get a chance to play through Las Vegas and Once Upon a Time – both of which surprise us with their elegant simplicity.
Feature Review: Caverna
In this week’s feature review, the team discusses the newest from Uwe Rosenberg, Caverna. We’ll talk about how the game plays, what makes it unique from so many of Rosenberg’s other farming-based euros and how it stacks up to the game it is so reminiscent of, Agricola.
There is talk that it can replace the latter, but does it really stand lone or is yet another game you should add to your shelves? Find out in this week’s feature review and learn whether we’re happy with our purchase on this one.
