Episode 22 – Terra Mystica

It’s a BIG week for gaming as we bring 6 games to the table PLUS we get a chance to discuss our recent Super Bowl experience (in which Anthony was a very happy fellow). The big review this week is of Terra Mystica – a game we’ve been trying to track down copies of for months – while we also have a chance to get favorites like City of Iron, Rampage, Tokaido Crossroads, 1st and Goal, and Spartacus to the Table. Hear how each of these games stacks up in this week’s episode.

At the Table

At the table this week, we have a LOT of games. One of the benefits of having two full weeks to record, we can get a bunch of stuff to the table, starting with 1st and Goal – the classic football simulation from R&R Games.

We also get a chance to play the new expansion for Tokaido in Crossroads, the team takes a couple stabs at Spartacus – A Game of Blood and Treachery – and Dan gets himself a copy of City of Iron. Finally, we talk about the silly, silly nature of Rampage and discuss whether this game is a flu in a box.

Feature Review: Terra Mystica

As one of the top rated games of tall time on Board Game Geek and notoriously out of print mega-euro, Terra Mystica is hot right now. But how does it actually play.

We sit down and play through this one a few times to determine if the chunky, abstract layout is hiding a brilliant game or if it’s a bit overrated. Opinions are slightly mixed here so listen to hear how we parse out the final verdict on Terra Mystica.
