Episode 37 – Top Ten Lunch Hour Games

Get ready for some fireworks on this week’s brand new episode of BGA. Anthony, Chris and Daniel get together to talk about the best games for your lunch hour – small, bite sized games that pack a punch for a good sized group of people. We also wade into the muck of discussing Galaxy Trucker (and the argument that ensues), along with the Star Realms iOS app, Citadels for our Classic review of the week and much more.

At the Table

Two games hit our table this week and one hit our tablets. The first of the games to hit our table is one that has been a dividing force amongst our group since we met – Galaxy Trucker. Loved by some and loathed by others, it’s a game that has incited a fair number of arguments. Whether it was just poorly taught the first time (or two) through or fails on a fundamental level for some of us, there is no middle ground here. Listen as the guys discuss the merits and drawbacks of the game and whether it’s one we should ever consider bringing back to the table.

Next up, we pull Citadels out of the closet and look at the merits of this classic, large-group-supporting game. As one of the first such games played by half of us, it’s a great example of how to engage a large number of people in bluffing with a fair bit of strategy to boot. Finally, we look at the Star Realms iOS app and how it is has ignited a fervor for a relatively indie, out of nowhere two player card game.
