Episode 134: If You Like Agricola, Try…
This week, Chris and Anthony look at one of the most successful euros of the last 10 years – Uwe Rosenberg’s Agricola – and discuss some games you might like if you also like this one. To kick things off, we asked listeners what games they had purchased because they were worried about future availability with our question of the week. Next up, we look at some of the upcoming games we’re excited about, including two new Uwe Rosenberg titles, Nusfjord and Indian Summer, releasing at Essen (or shortly after) this year, and ZiPang Portable, now on Kickstarter. We then…

For our question of the week, we asked the listeners what Kickstarter they are most pleased with to date that they have backed. Gen Con 50 Review
Another year, another Gen Con. It’s funny really. Three years ago, I never thought I’d go to Gen Con. It was a big trip, hours away, and my kids were little. This is now my third year attending, and I have a slightly different take on the biggest gaming event in North America. It’s still big, but it’s also familiar – comfortable in a way that I didn’t expect it could be after my first year. The Trip to Gen Con This year was a bit different. After the last two years of taking the bus from Pittsburgh, and stressing…
Episode 132 – Top 10 Dice Mechanics in Board Games
This week, we’re looking at the top 10 board game dice mechanics. These are not necessarily the top 10 dice games, but the strategy board games and card games that have the most innovative and interesting dice mechanics. In addition to our top ten list, we have our question of the week, asking the listeners what their most anticipated games announced or released at Gen Con are. Next up, we dig into acquisition disorders. Anthony talks about the new miniatures game from Fantasy Flight Games, Star Wars: Legion, and Chris digs into new card crafting games from AEG – Edge…
Bidder Up! Review
The auction theme, the goofy looking farm animals, and the wood panel box can be easy to overlook with Bidder Up!, which is a shame, because there are several elements of this game that are well worth checking out. Based on the classic 1985 card game, You’re Bluffing!, Bidder Up! is a full fledged board game, bringing in a number of elements that its card game originator doesn’t have. In addition, there are several variants, different modes, and rules alterations in the game to tweak and adjust based on number of players and complexity. How Bidder Up! Plays The goal…
ENGN Episode 49 – Sword & Sorcery Deep Dive
While Anthony was at Gen Con last week, Jason sat down with Byron Campbell, aka kittenhoarder! Writer for Miniature Market and entropymag.org from the BGG 1 Player Guild to discuss Sword & Sorcery, the new dungeon crawler from Ares Games that many are comparing to Descent. Listen to the two discuss the pros and cons of the new game vs. the tried and true dungeon crawling of a game like Descent. In addition, Anthony arrives to discuss big happenings with ENGN and BGA, including an all new website (www.www.boardgamersanonymous.com), a new channel on that site for ENGN (www.everynightisgamenight.com) and a big…
Episode 131: The Hotness Review (Gen Con Edition)
Gen Con is over and we’re recording live from the hotel room the morning after! We’re talking about the games we saw, the (few) games we were able to play, and all the stuff that was hot for purchase at the show. We kick things off with a big announcement – you can check out our new website here, or enter our contest for a chance to win $50 directly here. Our acquisition disorders included the new release for 2017 from Quined, Agra, and the newest civilization game from Fantasy Flight Games, Civilization: New Dawn. We also chat about some…
