The 50 Best Family Board Games of the 21st Century
Family game night has made something of a comeback in the last decade or so. Sure, I’m a little biased when it comes to the success of the board game industry, but the numbers don’t lie. The US board games market is expected to grow by $2.56B by 2025 with an annual growth rate of 8.39%. The confluence of technology pushback and more than a year of close quarters with family members looking for relaxing, analog alternatives to movie night during COVID have cracked open the hibernating games industry even more than it already was. Knee deep in the hobby…

Trekking Through History Review
(Note: We were provided a review copy of Trekking through History by the publisher, Underdog Games) TV used to be sacred. Saturday morning, we’d wake up, binge on five hours of mindless cartoons, and then wait to see which of our favorite movies (mostly of the 1980s) would be featured that afternoon. Sometimes it was something wholly inappropriate, edited to be palatable (e.g., Revenge of the Nerds or Meatballs), but every few weeks, the local stations would pony up for one of the big hitters. Star Wars. Indiana Jones. Back to the Future. I’ve made no secret of my life…

Question of the Week for August 8, 2022
One of the most persistent arguments in the board gaming hobby is over which games deserve to be “must plays.” With thousands of new games released every year, how would someone new to the hobby know where to start and what best represents the current state of the hobby? There could be no more subjective question than this, but it’s a fun one to throw out every now and then to see what people are playing most frequently, what they would use to introduce new gamers, and honestly, just how insular the hobby is at times. With that in mind,…
