This week, Anthony, Chris, and Daniel discuss one of the hottest kickstarter projects fulfilled in the last year – Myth – with an introductory dungeon crawl in the open-sandbox style game. We also talk about some of our favorite games from recent plays including Alhambra – a favorite in Anthony’s house – DC Deck Building Game, and In the Year of the Dragon – one of Stefan Feld’s first games. We also dig into Hearthstone for the first time – one of the hottest digital releases of the year and an interesting diversion when home alone without fellow gamers.

    On the Tablet

The team talks about Hearthstone this week, Blizzard’s newest and one of the best collectible card games in the industry (seriously) to date. The game has been growing rapidly in recent weeks and people are very excited to see all of the new content that they have scheduled – listen to how we, as a bunch of rapid board gamers, respond to a digital experience with both a card game and one that requires some level of investment to get the higher level cards.

    At the Table

This week we get three additional games to our table, including Alhambra – a family favorite that Anthony plays frequently with his wife. We also talk about Daniel’s all time favorite game, the DC Deck Building Game, and we get a play in of Stefan Feld’s early In the Year of the Dragon – a game that straddles the line of exciting and infuriating.

    Feature Review: Myth

This week, the guys finally get a chance to bring Myth to the table. Myth is one of the biggest Kickstarter projects to date and comes with a boat load of beautiful miniature sculpts (hence Anthony’s obsession), but what happens when the guys sit down with the rule book and try to figure out how to play the game? Does it fall flat or does it present the sort of sandbox challenge that the creators promised? Listen and find out what we think of the game.
