Another week, another batch of solo games hitting the table! This week, I’m digging into a question that has been posted a handful of times on Twitter and Facebook – how do you handle games with long setup or breakdown times?

Before diving into that, I offer some thoughts on the recent Games Workshop/FFG split and which games are worth tracking down that will be affected (as well as the ones that might come back in a new form). I also share one of the long awaited expansions that finally went back into print.

For recent plays, I dive into three games. The first is an interesting game as I reviewed it almost exactly a year ago but later found myself less and less impressed. That’s Xenoshyft Dreadmire, which you can read my full review of here as well.

Next up, I dive into Hostage Negotiator, which is still one of my all time favorites for dice chucking in a solo game, and has a prominent place on my quick solo games shelf. Finally, I dig a bit deeper into The Castles of Burgundy Card Game, which I first talked about waaaay back on episode 1. How does it hold up after 15-20 plays? Let’s take a closer look.

For this week’s discussion topic, I look at three situations in which setup and breakdown time really matters and how I personally handle those situations, with some recent examples of games I’ve had a heck of a time getting to the table effectively.
