It’s time for another If You Like episode. This week, we’re digging into the biggest of them all – Twilight Imperium 4th Edition and six games you might like (at varying weights) if you’re a fan of this epic experience. Next up, we dove into our Acquisition Disorders, discussing Everdell and Fields of Arle: Tea & Trade. Then our At the Table reviews for this week, featuring Gaia Project and Dinosaur Island. Finally, we shared six…

This week, we return to our tried and true Deep Dive format to analyze one of the hottest releases of 2016 – Stonemaier Games’ Charterstone. The first part of our show is spoiler free. We give our impressions of the very first game, as well as non-spoiler (as much as possible) reactions after finishing all 12 games. Afterwards, we get into our full spoiler review (16:07). Finally, we brought in a few friends of the pod for their reactions – Martin from our Slack channel, and Jenn Bartlett, the Board Game Librarian, and her husband Matt. They had very, very,…
Top 100 Games of All Time – 2018 Edition
Almost two years ago, for episode 100, we featured our top 100 games. For episode 150, we decided to revisit the list and updated it to reflect the great games that have been released since and some of the games that don’t get as much play as they once did. Here it is – our top 100 for 2018: 100. Dominant Species Unapologetic in its stark look and aggressive gameplay, Dominant Species challenges even the most hardcore eurogamers into managing the evolution of your species under the harshest of conditions. Pure gaming goodness. [amazon_link asins=’B0045WCG8I’ template=’ProductGrid’ store=’norwwrit-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’47859458-fee2-11e7-88ec-77d8712e737a’] 99.…
Episode 152 – Most Anticipated Games of 2018
It’s that time of year again – time for us to run wild with our acquisition disorders and list off 25+ games that we’re excited to play in 2018. This year, the list was extra long so we had to do some pruning to make it manageable. Before we dive into our most anticipated, we asked the listeners what their most anticipated were and the answers were extremely varied. We then dove into our recent plays with reviews of Rajas of the Ganges and Azul. Finally, we shared the 30 games we’re most excited to see in 2018. Check them…

ENGN Episode 68 – An Interview w/ Ignacy Trzewiczek
We are very excited to be joined once again by Ignacy Trzewiczek, president of Portal Games. Ignacy joined us last year to talk about the pre-order campaign for First Martians. This time, he’s back to talk about the launch, future content, and yes… the rulebook. We think you will be very interested to hear Ignacy give his honest opinions. We also talk about lots more releases coming from Portal in 2018, including new expansions for Robinson Crusoe, Alien Artifacts, and Imperial Settlers. We hope you enjoy the episode. Also, stay tuned Monday for some extra conversation we had about all…
Viral Review
Viral is a game with an interesting concept. In terms of theme, much like Pandemic, it pits humans against viruses in a battle for supremacy, but instead of working together to overcome disease, you are the disease. Players take on the role of one of several different types of viruses (color coded of course), that are ravaging through the human body, attempting to reign supreme over the faceless person the board represents. An area control game, you’ll play cards and manipulate the board in an attempt to have supremacy and in some cases, complete control over certain systems and organs…
Summit: The Board Game Review
InsideUp Games provided a review copy of Summit: The Board Game for the purposes of this review. Summit: The Board Game is an ambitious game. It is loaded with options – from the double-sided board that supports two different modes of play, to the vast difficulty settings and the volume of items you’ll encounter during your ascent. This is part of what attracted me to the game – the sheer number of options to sort through and different ways to approach this game. It’s also why it’s taking me a bit of time to prepare this review after receiving the…
