It’s time for our most anticipated games of 2017! Anthony and Chris sit down to run through the 17 games we think are going to be big in 2017 (and then we discuss whether we think they will in fact be good or not). As the first full show recorded in 2017, we dive into some of the recent events that have been making the rounds in the hobby, along with our acquisition disorders (even more anticipated games!) and the games we’ve been playing lately. Acquisition Disorder Corner Anthony starts things off with a pair of games – the first…
This week we’re diving into a pair of Cool Mini or Not releases from the last few months – starting with Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia, a dice driven dungeon crawl that just hit US shores for Kickstarter backers. It’s one of the few Cool Mini or Not games with a built-in solo variant, so how does it fare? Next up we look at Eric Lang’s most recent CMON release – The Others: 7 Sins – which hit for Kickstarter backers in September and the public at large shortly after. How does the fan-made solo variant for this one stack up?…

So we dive into the intricacies of this deck builder which has been in production for a long time and promises many more releases, updates, and new expansions in the near future. From there, we discuss the similarities with…

Top 10 Board Games of 2016
This has been an interesting year in many ways. From consolidation of the industry into a small number of much larger hobby gaming companies, to the resurgence of some brands and companies, there has been a lot of jockeying and movement as the industry continues to grow. And to be honest, it looks like that kind of year. For the explosive innovation of 2015, there was a lot of refinement and 2.0 releases in 2016 – games that took what their predecessors did and made it better. I love that – I think it’s a sign of evolution in a…

So in episode 14 of Table for One, Anthony and Jason sit down to discuss all things Pandemic. In a special two parter, we start by discussing the base game that started it all, along with the core mechanics that have made this game so iconic in the hobby (and that so many others are willing to borrow from liberally). We then dive into the three major…
Lunarchitects Review
Lunarchitects is an interesting game for several reasons. First, there is the backstory. I was originally drawn to this game, not because of the theme or the visuals (both of which ended being spot on), but because it was a reimplementation of another game I rather liked and couldn’t find – Glen More. Glen More was one of those hidden gems I had a chance to play at a convention and then upon realizing how great it was, was disappointed by its rarity (and subsequent cost). So, I don’t own a copy of the original. When Lunarchitects was announced, it…
