Board Gamers Anonymous Awards 2020 – Winners

It’s the end of 2020. A collective sigh of relief is rippling across the world, but a year can’t be fully complete until we look back at the best parts of it. For board games, the list is surprisingly strong. Despite limitations on how many games we could play in 2020, we had a challenge whittling them down to just 32.

But that’s just what we’ve done, preparing eight categories of nominees, four nominees each. They include:

Best Online Implementation:
Santorini, Teotihuacan, 7 Wonders Duel, Potion Explosion

Best App:
Root, Spirit Island, Wingspan, Roll for the Galaxy

Family Game:
Mariposas, Trekking the World, Mysterium Park, Fort

Heavy Strategy Game:
On Mars, Tekhenu, Food Chain Magnate: The Ketchup Mechanism & Other Ideas, Trickerion: Dawn of Technology/Dahlgaard’s Academy

Most Overlooked Gem:
Tokyo Tsukiji Market, Sonora , Sanctum, Tungaru

Best Kickstarter:
On Mars, 18Chesapeake, Streets, Clinic Deluxe Edition: The COVID 19

Best 2.0 Release:
Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, Imperial Struggle, 7 Wonders & Expansions, The Fox in the Forest Duet

Game of the Year:
Lost Ruins of Arnak, Beyond the Sun, Fort, On Mars

You can listen to the full episode on which we discuss the nominees and announce the winners here, or you can watch the recording of the episode on Board Game Arena’s Twitch channel here.
