Episode 11 – Star Trek Attack Wing & Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures

Ine one of our biggest episodes yet, the Board Gamers Anonymous crew – Anthony, Dan, Kim, and Chris – get together to talk about the battle of the miniature flight combat system games. It’s Star Trek Attack Wing vs. Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures.

In between that and getting ready for Extra Life, we also talk about Mascarade, Cosmic Encounter, a replay of Lords of Waterdeep and the laundry list of games we’re eager to pick up on our acquisition disorder list.

At the Table

It’s been a busy week getting ready for Extra Life, so we weren’t able to get quite the massive pile of games to the table that we normally do. But we were able to knock out a few good ones, including Cosmic Encounter – the classic Americlash game that really drives home variability in player powers.

We also brought out Bruno Faidutti’s Mascarade, which just showed up in the mail for a lot of us and is already a favorite at the table before (or after) a couple beers. Finally, we get Lords of Waterdeep: Scoundrels of Skullport back to the table after a few weeks and discuss how it plays with the expansion now that it’s sunk in a little.

Feature Review: Star Trek Attack Wing VS. Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures

Finally, for our feature review this week, the team gets together and plays two hot miniature games including the incredibly detailed Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures from Fantasy Flight Games and the brand new Star Trek Attack Wing from WizKids.

Listen and learn which of these takes on the FlightPath system we enjoy more and which you should track down if the time has come to go all in on an expandable dogfighting combat game. It’s Star Wars vs. Star Trek. Let the flame wars begin!
