Episode 35 – Kemet vs. Cyclades

There is one question that has plagued our hobby for…oh, a year or two at this point. Which game pulls off the semi-historical, myth-based area control experience better – Kemet or Cyclades. On this week’s episode, Anthony, Chris, Daniel, and Drew will get to the bottom of it, discussing the two games and which one you should seek out and play first if given a choice in the matter. Additionally, we get a couple of big, meaty games to the table in Defenders of the Realm and Die Macher, along with Mystery of the Abbey.

At the Table

Boy oh boy did we play some big ones this week. Chris and Anthony take a spin with deduction-game Mystery of the Abbey with a local game group, Drew finally gets his grail game, Die Macher, to the table with a group in Manhattan, and all four guys sit down for an epic, table-rousing game of Defenders of the Realm – a new favorite for all four of us. Find out which games live up to their reputations, which left us wanting more, and which you should dodge completely.

Feature Review: Kemet vs. Cyclades

It’s time to settle the age old question of which mythos has the baddest creatures and heroes – Ancient Egypt or Ancient Greece. This week’s feature covers two games with equally rabid fan bases – Kemet and Cyclades. Find out which of the two has the biggest opportunity to steal your attention at the table. More importantly, if you have to choose between one game for your next big purchase, which will it be. This is a contentious one – prepare for some strong opinions.

Question of the Week: Worker Placement Games

Find out which worker placement games top our list of favorites on this week’s question of the week. As one of the favorite genres of game for the group, this will be a tough one to narrow down.
