Episode 9: Suburbia

One of the most popular games at the BGA table is Suburbia, an instant classic from Bezier Games and Ted Alspach that deserves every bit of accolades it pulls. This week we’ll be reviewing it in full, along with a number of other games we got to the table (and tablet) lately.

Check in to learn more about Dungeon Roll, The Crazy Creatures of Dr. Gloom, and the ICONS Superpowered Roleplaying Game from Steve Kenson – all hitting our tables this week.

On the Tablet

Two games we want to hit on this week that hit our tablets lately – Tanto Cuore and its iOS iteration, and Small World 2, the newest version of Small World now available for tablets (fixing many of the problems the original version had – including the epic difficulty).

At the Table

At the table we were able to get three games out, starting with recent release Dungeon Roll. Learn how the cute little chest game makes out at our table, alongside small tin-based game The Crazy Creatures of Dr. Gloom, and the superhero roleplaying game from Steve Kenson – ICONS.

Whatever your interests, we have a diverse group of games at our table this week that we’re excited to discuss on the episode.

Feature Review: Suburbia

The ultimate city-building board game, Suburbia perfectly captures the feel of computer games like Sim City with its tile laying, tableau building city building mechanics. Learn how we think the game stacks up to similar classics and whether it’s worth a play, buy or dodge for your next gaming session.

With a new expansion on the way, this is game you’ll want to decide if you’re interested in getting to the table sooner than later.
